The fifth annual ADIT conference (Tula, May 28 - June 1, 2001) was organized jointly with the Association of Museums of Russia. The conference focused on information management issues and ADIT's interaction with museum network organizations and small museums. A Museum Computer Festival was held at the Tula House of Science and Technology, where six major museum information projects were showcased.

Before the conference, a project-analytical seminar, "ADIT Strategy and Development Program," was held in Yasnaya Polyana; the strategy was approved at the conference.

PLENARY SESSIONS

• "ADIT's Mission as a National Association for Museum Documentation"

Reports were presented on ADIT's policy development as a national association for museum documentation, and ADIT's interaction with the AMR, the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, UNESCO, the EU, SIDOC, and AVICOM. • "Information Management"

Presented papers and held a roundtable discussion on various aspects of automation methods, the application of standards in the field of museum object descriptions, database development, and museum documentation preparation methods.

• "Use of Automated Tools in Museum Research and Exhibition Activities"

Presented papers and held a roundtable discussion on the development of methods for using museum information resources and Internet resources to prepare museum research products.

• "Information Tools for Visitor Management"
Reports were presented and a roundtable discussion was held on the use of automated ticket reservation and sales systems, information kiosks, and various projection technologies.

• "Day of the Association of Museums of Russia"

Discussion of the problems of cultural IT in small Russian cities. Reports were presented on the activities of the Association of Museums of Russia in the regions, training seminars held in the regions, the regional policy of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, and the funding of regional projects by the Open Society Institute (recognized as an undesirable organization in the Russian Federation in 2015).
