The sixth ADIT conference was held in Nizhny Novgorod from May 27 to 31, 2002. ADIT unexpectedly entered the realm of cultural policy, particularly that of Russia's regions, where the center of gravity of many economic, social, and cultural processes had shifted. This forced a completely new perspective on ADIT's role and place in society. The Nizhny Novgorod conference was dedicated to three main components of the informatization process in the cultural sphere: Information Management (the "Management" block); Information Resources (the "Resources" block); and Information Technology (the "Technology" block).
Before the conference, a project analysis seminar was held in Kstovo, where a strategically important document, "Declaration of Intent of the Non-Commercial Partnership Automation of Museum Activities and Information Technology (NP ADIT)," was presented.
